Langham International in partnership with the Biblical Studies and Mission (BISAM) Study group of CEEAMS is inviting you to an international conference on Bible, Mission and Context in Central and Eastern Europe, which will be held 3-4 March 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The conference intends to explore the specifics of contextual Bible interpretation which intends to make the message of the Scriptures relevant again for nations of Central and Eastern Europe. Many of these countries have experienced a renewal during the time of Reformation but have difficulties to derive meaningful guidance from the Bible for a secularized and disillusioned society. Bible exegesis becomes relevant only when it is able to create a dialogue between the ancient message and current contextual issues.

As one of the highlights the conference will see the launch of the Central and Eastern European Bible commentary. Our keynote speaker will be Dr Chris Wright, who has engaged in a fruitful discussion between biblical and mission scholarship and is well-known as both, a biblical scholar and a missiologist. Rev Tayo Arikawe, the International Director of Langham Partnership, other international guests and many contributors to this multi-year Commentary project will be part of the conference.

Participants are invited to present a 15-20 minute paper on the conference theme highlighting a contextual application of the Bible’s message to issues experienced in his or her home country. Each presentation will be followed by a time of questions and discussion.
